The Home Page

The CompassionLynx application generates a home page for your organization. When you setup your organization, you specify the name of the home page (which becomes part of the URL people will use to access your data). If your organization is called "Tutors for Teens" and you select "tutorteens" as your home page name, the URL you would use to get to your home page would be "www.compassionlynx.org/tutorteens".

Your home page takes on several different forms depending on the type of user:

  • An anonymous user (not logged in) sees the generic home page and can leave anonymous requests.
  • A logged in user and can enter new requests and review all their requests.
  • A logged in user who is on your staff is given the staff home page.
  • The owner or admin of your home page is given the admin home page.

Staff users can see and change clients, help requests, organizations, and volunteers. In addition, the admin user can generate reports, delete data, give a user staff privileges, and change organization settings.

The Bulletin Board

Every home page has a customizable bulletin board. You can place descriptive text or HTML in the bulletin board to describe what your organization does and to give instructions to your users. As an example of a few basic things you can do, you can look at the CompassionLynx Request Manager home page: www.compassionlynx.org/prexcor.

In addition, you can upload a logo for your organization that will is displayed on all your pages.

What Kind of Data?

The CompassionLynx application lets you keep four kinds of data

  • Clients. Client data keeps the details on a person who makes requests for help and who you provide services to.
  • Volunteers. A volunteer is a person who works on your behalf to provide services. CompassionLynx keeps information on each of your volunteers and their skills.
  • Help Requests. When a client (or user) asks for a service or for help, you keep the details in a Help Request.
  • Organizations. You can keep information on associated organizations. For example, you may draw volunteers from other groups in your area. Associated organizations can own their volunteers and make them visible to you.
